Chac Mool
At the height of Mesoamerican civilization, Chac Mool statues featured prominently in the religious and cultural spheres of the Maya, Toltec, and Aztec peoples. Depicted in a reclining pose with the head turned and a bowl or disk resting on the abdomen, these figures were typically placed at temple entrances and ceremonial sites. They are believed to have functioned as altars for offerings, central to rituals intended to appease the gods and promote agricultural fertility.
