OuR REcycled Glass Collections

A signature of La Embajada. They began with a family developed for the restaurants at Zadún, built around three essential forms: boleada, cylindrical, and conical.
These forms remain the foundation of every collection, transformed through color, proportion, texture, and finish for Proper Hotels with Kelly Wearstler, Soho House Mexico City, and La Embajada itself.

Making

HAND-Blown Glass

Each piece begins with recycled glass, much of it collected from schools and everyday bottles, including the familiar green glass of Mexican Coca-Cola. Once molten, the glass has to be worked quickly. The blower turns, stretches, opens and compresses the form while it is still responsive, relying on experience to find the right balance and proportion.
Such a handmade process is bound to leave its traces. Variations in shape, thickness and the natural bubbles that form become signatures of the process, evidence of the hand that made them. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.
