CUSTOM WORK
We work with designers, architects and hospitality teams to develop custom furniture and objects for specific projects. Whenever possible, we begin with a piece, material or technique we already know, using it as the starting point for something particular to the project.
Our teams in Austin and Mexico work between the designer and the workshop, helping translate an idea into something that can actually be made by hand.
our Process
DEFINE the brief
We begin with the project requirements: dimensions, quantities, use, drawings, reference images, schedule and any other information available.
DEVELOP THE DESIGN
Together with our design team in Mexico, we explore scale, proportion, material, construction and finish, working within the possibilities of the material and the way it is made.
QUOTE + APPROVE
Once the direction is clear, we establish specifications and pricing. After approval and deposit, drawings are finalized and development begins.
PROTOTYPE + REFINE
When appropriate, a prototype or first piece is made and reviewed with the design team. Details are adjusted until the piece is ready for production.
Produce + DELIVER
Our team follows production directly with the workshop, reviews the finished work and coordinates packing, export, customs and delivery to the US through La Embajada Logistics.
MEXICO SOURCING
Our team can source directly in Mexico for projects that require furniture, objects, art, craft, vintage pieces, materials or specialized makers beyond what is available through La Embajada.
We begin with the needs of the project and use our network and knowledge on the ground to identify possibilities, document them and present them to the design team. When something cannot be found, we can often locate a workshop or maker capable of developing it.
Sourcing can be as focused as finding a particular object or material, or extend across multiple categories for a larger project.
LOGISTICS
La Embajada coordinates the movement of goods from workshops and suppliers throughout Mexico to projects in the United States.
Our team manages collection, consolidation, packing, export documentation, customs and transportation. Shipments can include La Embajada pieces, custom work, sourced objects and items purchased from other makers or suppliers in Mexico.
By consolidating work from different sources into a single shipment, we simplify the process and provide one point of coordination from Mexico through final delivery.
