Elena Black Bread Plate 14cm
The Elena Collection gets its name from chef Elena Reygadas, whose restaurants Rosetta, Lardo, and Bella Aurora have become iconic in Mexico city. Elena asked us to design a simple clay plate to serve desserts and first courses, which would have a patina and age with use. The result is our Vajilla Elena collection, expanded to include all sizes. Vajilla Elena Black and Elena Green are designed to be interchangeable, so that they can be mixed and matched if desired.
Sold individually.

Made in Oaxaca
A low-temperature clay plate hand-made by artisanal processes. Pieces owe their natural black color to the oxidation that occurs during firing, which results in a beautiful matte gray and metallic black hue, further enhanced by burnishing. This is a traditional technique that was used to make vessels impermeable to water and mezcal in Oaxaca prior to the arrival of metal, glass and plastic containers.
