ROJA Red Clay Tall Pot w/ Lid
The ROJA tal pot is a modern take on traditional Oaxacan red clay pottery. With a taller design than traditional pailas, it's ideal for pasta and soups. Featuring a loose lid, elegant handles, and tall side walls, it can easily move from stove to table. The red clay material is prized for its excellent heat conduction and distinctive mineral flavor, cherished throughout Mexico. Care
We recommend boiling corn "masa" or polenta in the pot for approximately 15 minutes during the first use to coat and "cure" our red clay pots. After this initial use, the contents should be discarded, and the pot washed normally with warm water and dishwashing soap. With continued use, a beautiful patina will develop, adding character and further sealing the pot.
Please be mindful to avoid extreme temperature changes to ensure the longevity of your red clay pot.
Made in Oaxaca.
Our clay comes from San Marcos Tlapazola in the Tlacolula Valley, where it is handworked for the body of the pieces. Then, a red clay slip is applied and meticulously burnished with a corn cob. No molds are used, and each piece is thrown by hand, one by one, ensuring that every piece is unique.
