San Cristobal Bread Basket
This simple basket was developed for the Hotel San Cristobal in Baja, part of the amazing Bunkhouse group. We love it for its simplicity and sturdiness, coming from the "Nudo Mixteco" weaving technique. A must have for a lifetime.

Our palm pieces are hand woven in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca and in the mountains of Guerrero. The palm is hand harvested using donkeys because of the treacherous locations where the palm grows. After gathering, the palm is dried and previous to weaving, soaked in water for a few hours. The palm is then taken to caves carved in the back yards of the weavers to keep them in a temperature-controlled environment, and to be split and finally hand woven. A work of dedication and love for the craft.
