Lupita Dolls
Hard papier-mâché dolls trace their origins to the late colonial and early Independence period, when families of modest means crafted them as affordable imitations of the costly porcelain dolls imported from Spain. In Mexico City, they came to be affectionately known as 'Lupitas,' a diminutive of the beloved name Guadalupe.
