Designer

Arturo Pani, a Mexican interior and furniture designer known as "the" decorator to the elite in Mexico City, is best known for creating the now-universally recognized "Acapulco Look" in the 1950's.  He used new materials to reinterpret traditional forms. Often working in gilt iron, he created well-proportioned, opulent versions of coffee tables, lamps and chairs. His works became renowned as he rose to senior designer at the firm De la Pena, Lascurain, y Compañía. His unerring presence in the Mexican Modern scene influenced the proliferation of Mid-Century Modernism throughout the country.
