Sonoran Ironwood Wolf Sculpture

A hand-carved wolf sculpture made from palo fierro (ironwood), a dense hardwood native to the Sonoran Desert of northern Mexico. Ironwood animal carving is a regional tradition particularly associated with the Comcáac (Seri) people of the Sonoran coast. Depicted seated with its head raised in a howl, the sculpture combines angular, elongated forms with a polished surface that reveals the deep reddish-brown tones and distinctive grain of the wood.
