Vintage Mexican Carved Wood Mask with Animal Crest
A striking vintage Mexican mask carved from a single block of dark wood. The deeply modeled human face is framed by geometric and foliate carving, with a small animal head emerging above the forehead. Pierced eyes and the original tied cord give the piece the direct, slightly mysterious presence characteristic of Mexican ceremonial and folk masks.
The dark, burnished surface and visible hand carving give the piece considerable depth and character. A strong sculptural object displayed on its own or as part of a collection of Mexican masks and folk art.

About the Trocadero Flea Market
Every Sunday, Avenida México in Guadalajara transforms into El Trocadero, one of Mexico's most celebrated antique and vintage markets. Founded in 1996, it has become an essential destination for collectors in search of exceptional objects from across the country. Dealers arrive from Jalisco, the Bajío, and northern Mexico with ceramics, glass, furniture, folk art, and decorative objects that have quietly found their way out of Mexican homes. Many of the vintage pieces in the Embajada collection begin here.
Vintage Disclaimer
Our vintage pieces show the passage of time as we leave them in the original condition in which they were found. As a consequence, signs of wear and patina should be expected. Please refer to images for condition details.
