Carved Wooden Mother Sculpture

An unusual example of Mexican folk sculpture depicting a pregnant woman, a subject rarely encountered in traditional wood carving. The standing figure is rendered with elongated proportions, a pronounced belly, and arms held behind her back. Carved from solid wood with a warm brown finish, the sculpture combines simplified forms with carefully observed anatomical details. Mounted on a rectangular wooden base.

About the Trocadero Flea Market
Every Sunday, Avenida México in Guadalajara transforms into El Trocadero, one of Mexico's most celebrated antique and vintage markets. Founded in 1996, it has become an essential destination for collectors in search of exceptional objects from across the country. Dealers arrive from Jalisco, the Bajío, and northern Mexico with ceramics, glass, furniture, folk art, and decorative objects that have quietly found their way out of Mexican homes. Many of the vintage pieces in the Embajada collection begin here.

Vintage Disclaimer
Our vintage pieces show the passage of time as we leave them in the original condition in which they were found. As a consequence, signs of wear and patina should be expected. Please refer to images for condition details.
