Veladora Pressed Glass Votive
Veladora Pressed Glass Votive
Sleeker and more refined than the typical ribbed veladora, this pressed glass votive was made for the churches of Puebla — a city with 365 of them, one for each day of the year. Cast in a press mold, the glass ranges from clear to a soft bluish tint depending on the batch. A signature of its making are the subtle wrinkles that appear where the molten glass pressed against the mold — marks of process that give each piece its own character.

About Puebla Pressed Glass
Glassmaking in Puebla dates to the early 16th century, when Antonio de Espinosa established the first glassworks in Mexico on Venado Street, producing bottles, flasks, and colored glassware. The tradition deepened over the centuries through successive workshops and master craftsmen, and in the late 19th century, French technicians were brought in to refine the techniques further. Today, Puebla remains a center for both hand-blown and pressed glass production, with family workshops continuing to work from molds that are generations old.
About Handmade Pieces
Crafted by hand using techniques passed down through generations of master artisans. Variations in color, texture, and finish are inherent to the process — each piece is, by nature, one of a kind.
