Vintage Mexican Cantina Trays

Sale price$85.00

Discovered at Guadalajara’s Trocadero Flea Market, these vintage Mexican cantina trays celebrate the graphic language of twentieth-century Mexico. Produced for some of the country’s most iconic beverage brands—including Sauza Tequila, Presidente Brandy, Tecate, and Aga soda—each tray reflects an era when commercial graphics were rendered with remarkable artistry, combining bold typography, vibrant color, and memorable illustration.

Originally made for use in cantinas, cafés, and neighborhood tiendas, these enameled steel trays became part of everyday life, carrying drinks through celebrations both large and small. Decades of use have left each piece with a rich patina that speaks to its history, while preserving the character and craftsmanship that have made these objects increasingly collectible. Whether displayed as wall art or returned to service at the table, each tray offers a nostalgic glimpse into Mexico’s visual culture and the enduring tradition of hospitality that inspired them.

About the Trocadero Flea Market
Every Sunday, Avenida México in Guadalajara transforms into El Trocadero, one of Mexico’s most celebrated antique and vintage markets. Founded in 1996 by a small group of collectors and antique dealers, it has grown into an essential destination for designers, collectors, and enthusiasts in search of exceptional objects from across the country. For us, Trocadero has become an indispensable stop on every visit to Guadalajara. Dealers arrive from Jalisco, the Bajío, and northern Mexico, bringing with them an extraordinary range of objects—from vintage Tonalá ceramics and mid-century glass to furniture, folk art, industrial pieces, and decorative objects that have quietly found their way out of Mexican homes. Many of the vintage pieces in the Embajada collection begin here. We return often, searching not simply for antiques, but for objects that embody the craftsmanship, character, and design history of Mexico. Every visit is different, and every discovery is one of a kind.
